About Channel 58
One of the benefits of an app is that it is attached to a device. That device is usually a phone, which means that the app then has access to the entire book of contacts, plus potential to connect with any other app installed on the phone. Additionally, it can track where the device is geographically, and if there are other app users nearby. What this means is that an app gives you the ability to provide an easy way for your subscribers to share your app with their friends and contacts.
Channel 58 Superstar: ClassPass |
classpass.com
Founder: Payal Kadakia Overview: FastPass provides a subscription service that allows you to attend fitness classes anywhere that has a ClassPass membership. FastPass was created when Payal tried to find a group dance class, but was overwhelmed at what she found in search results. There was no central place where you could find out about dance or fitness classes. ClassPass recognizes the value of “word-of-mouth”, and also that many people like to work out together. The app allows you to invite friends from your contact list, and if you have signed in using a social platform, you can add your contacts from that platform. This is a method used by many apps to encourage their members to invite their friends. ClassPass goes a step further, and gamifies the invitation of friends to specific classes. You can sign up for a class, and then invite a friend to join you, even if they are not yet signed up on the platform. You can receive rewards and discounts for friends who decide to sign up with ClassPass. After a few bumps in the road, by 2022 the app was available in 2500+ cities around the world. There are 30,000 studios signed up with the platform, and the company is valued at a half billion dollars*. |
